The production method of thiourea dioxide is as follows:
Prepare the reaction vessel: Add distilled water to the reaction pot and stir.
Cooling: Lower the temperature of the reaction pot to 8-10°C using a cold saltwater bath. Ensure the temperature inside the pot remains stable.
Add thiourea: Begin adding thiourea to the reaction pot and slowly drip hydrogen peroxide. Control the dripping speed to maintain the reaction temperature below 20°C.
pH adjustment: After the pH value reaches 3-5, repeat the addition of thiourea and hydrogen peroxide. Ensure the pH value remains stable.
Reaction completion: When the reaction is nearing completion, water can be added to prevent further temperature increase.
Separation and drying: When the pH value reaches 2-3 and the temperature of the mixture drops to around 5°C, transfer the oxidized product to a centrifuge for drying and then dry it in a drying chamber to obtain thiourea dioxide.
It is important to note that the production of 1 ton of thiourea dioxide requires 1 ton of thiourea with 98% purity and 3.4 tons of hydrogen peroxide with 30% concentration. Additionally, thiourea dioxide can also be produced using ozone and thiourea as raw materials or using calcium cyanamide, ammonium sulfide, and hydrogen peroxide as raw materials.
